sustainability

We contribute to 3 of the UN’s sustainable development goals

Good Health & Well-being

Sustainable development goal 3 stands for welfare and good healthcare, the goal is to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. We focus specifically on subgoal 3.9, this target states:

Target 3.9: By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination.

ExRobotics contributes to this goal by eliminating the need for employees themselves to check potentially hazardous installations. By sending in our ATEX robots and IECEx robots we are preventing the risk of accidents and illnesses.

Decent Work & Economic Growth

Sustainable development goal 8 to promotes sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. We focus specifically on subgoal 8.8, this target states:

Target 8.8: Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, including migrant workers, in particular women migrants, and those in precarious employment

Our robots can manoeuvre in tight spaces, read the gauges, collect data and return to their docking station. They can survey the same route daily without failure, not minding the lack of variety in tasks. The worker can survey the plant from a distance, through the lens of a robot, reducing time and improving safety. Letting workers join the robotics evolution will not only increase the knowledge level at an organisation, but will increase the workers’ well-being. You can read more about this in our blog “How can we make operators’ lives better?”

Climate Action

Sustainable development goal 13 urges us to combat climate change and its impacts.

Target 13.3: Atmospheric concentrations of the major greenhouse gases continue to increase despite the temporary reduction in emissions in 2020 related to measures taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The six years from 2015 to 2020 are likely to be the warmest on record. Climate change is making the achievement of many SDG’s less likely. To limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels in accordance with the Paris Agreement, the world would need to achieve net zero carbon dioxide emissions by around 2050.

ExRobotics’ products make an impact on SDG 13 by detecting fugitive emissions, limiting commuting and enable the hydrogen economy. Our robots ensure the timely detection of leaks. As a result, leaks can be detected and repaired earlier. All this contributes to less loss of gases to the atmosphere, which in turn contributes to a cleaner climate. Workers can also cut back on their commute by letting robots perform autonomous missions, there is no need for them to be on site when a robot can be their eyes and ears. Also ecological considerations will prompt a shift away from hydrocarbon fuels. One alternative is hydrogen because it burns to produce water, not carbon dioxide. Therefore there will be a global increase in the proportion of hydrogen compared with hydrocarbon facilities. ExRobotics is at the forefront of this transition by preparing our certification for the increase in potentially explosive hydrogen locations.
